Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)

Course Duration:  3 days

 

Aim: The Graspan Frankton Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) course is specifically designed to cover all the relative subjects that relate to but not exhaustive; listed charities, non-governmental organisations, media personnel and blue-chip companies operating in potentially complex environments. Disaster, humanitarian or war zones situations. Developing the skills to reduce, manage or avoid risks to their own security, that of their colleagues and those protecting them. Whether it be in a humanitarian, disaster or war zone situation, various risks arise from working in these hostile and challenging environments.

 

Course Outline:

  • Developing situational awareness, reactionary skills and appropriate behaviour
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Assessing risk
  • Understand and manage security threat awareness, nature of threats e.g., civil unrest
  • Understanding the importance of local culture and customs in terms of security and safety
  • Develop effective behaviour strategies to respond to incidents; checkpoints, roadblocks, carjacking and dealing with local drivers
  • Crisis management
  • Vehicle security, search procedures and journey management
  • Emergency communications and navigation
  • First aid medical response such as CPR, life support and trauma care
  • kidnap survival
  • Develop personal conflict management skills
  • Surveillance awareness

 

This fully residential three-day course is a challenging practical and dynamic delivered course which will prepare delegates for working in insecure environments.
