Aim: Any business conducting guarding activity to secure a building or site may need trained security staff qualified as security officers who hold a SIA licence.
Security Officers are often the first point of contact between many businesses and members of the public. It is important therefore that they are effectively trained and meet legal requirements in what can be a challenging environment.
The Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry is aimed at learners who want to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work legally as a Security Officer. Based on the SIA’s own specifications and updated to meet the latest requirements, a Level 2 Award for Security Officer in the private security industry qualification is required by law for an individual to apply for a SIA licence to work as a Security Officer.
The average wage rate is £10-14 p/hr earning up to £3000 per month.
Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate* that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
