Level 3 Certificate for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry

Aim: Close Protection Operatives maintain the integrity and security for a varied list of clientele and high value assets.. It is important therefore that they are effectively trained and meet legal requirements in what can be a challenging environment. The learning outcomes cover Legislation, threat assessment and risk management, surveillance awareness, searching, foot and vehicle drills, journey management and reconnaissance.

The Level 3 Certificate for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry is aimed at learners who want to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work legally as a Close Protection Operative. Based on the SIA’s own specifications and updated to meet the latest requirements, a Level 3 Certificate for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry qualification is required by law  for an individual to apply for a SIA licence to work  as a Close Protection Operative.

The average wage rate is £25/hr earning up to £5000 per month.

  • Unit 04 Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 05 Working as a Door Supervisor for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 06 Physical Intervention Skills for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 07 Physical intervention skills in the private security industry

Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid certificate* that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Learners should present their First Aid certificate* to their training provider before they start training. This certificate* must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.
